Job Description/Responsibilities

This position will assist in data collection on private properties participating in the Texas Conservation & Sustainability Initiative cost-share reimbursement program. Under the direction of the Silviculturist and the Forest Commodity Project Director, the Student Worker will assist with the following data collection efforts on private properties participating in the Texas Conservation & Sustainability Initiative:

  • Soil sampling
  • Above ground tree measurements
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions: This position involves field and office-related duties. Fieldwork is occasionally required in remote forested locations under various geographic and climatic conditions. Work may include out-of-town travel. Educational Qualifications: Applicant must be currently enrolled as a student in a higher education, natural resources program, preferably an SAF - accredited forestry program. Required Skills: Applicants should be well-organized, familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, and be willing to learn how to use instruments required for data collection. Applicants should be able to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances over uneven terrain.

**Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:**A valid driver’s license or the ability to attain one within 30 days.
