Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Ecosystem Resources Program Interns will assist coastal ecologists responsible for managing habitat restoration projects, mapping habitats (oyster reef, seagrass, and salt marsh), responding to fish and wildlife kills, and engaging in state and federal environmental review processes. Duties include assisting with field work (both land and boat-based) such as acoustic sonar surveys, ground truthing map products, and project site visits. planning habitat conservation and restoration projects. assisting with literature reviews to provide supporting documentation for environmental review guidance documents. entering, handling, and summarizing data including the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). maintenance of field and lab equipment. and participation in outreach and natural resource related meetings.
