GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This internship will be located at TPWD Headquarters in Austin, Texas and will be a mix of office and field work. The Water Resources Program Intern will gain broad experience and work in many disciplines. This position will assist Water Resources Program staff with providing technical guidance related to activities that may impact water quantity and water quality such as large water diversion permits and discharge permits. Additionally, this position will assist with field work activities for a study to measure the effects of groundwater use and climate change on freshwater springs by collecting fish and aquatic macroinvertebrate abundance data from freshwater springs in the Edwards Plateau. This position will also assist with managing physicochemical and biological data collected by the Water Resources Program. The Water Resources Program intern will also attend technical and professional meetings with senior Water Resources staff to gain knowledge and insight into the stakeholder-driven processes around natural resources management.
