Description

Under the direction of the Outdoor Education Specialist, this position will serve as a volunteer (unpaid) intern for the Texas Outdoor Family program in the State Parks Division. This internship supports the Outdoor Education and Outreach Team in planning, delivering, and evaluating Texas Outdoor Family weekend camping programs at State Parks by:

  • Serving as a backup instructor and assisting with outdoor education programs including kayaking, geocaching, fishing, and camping programs.
  • Helping promote Texas Outdoor Family programs through local/regional outreach and development of marketing programs.
  • Assisting with maintenance and storage of all outdoor equipment necessary to deliver Texas Outdoor Family programs.
  • Complying with all Agency, Division, and branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

  • August 2025 - Interviews & Candidate Selection

Internship Requirements:

  • Overnight travel (camping in tents in State Parks) a minimum of 6 weekends
  • Timeframe: September through December
