Description

This renowned private 10-acre estate located in Fort Worth, Texas is searching for an intern for Spring/Summer 2025. This property’s classic European garden was designed by Russell Page, with landscape design by Robert Zion. The grounds include a modernist house with terraces, pool, and sculpture ponds, an herbaceous garden, rose gardens with over 1000 roses, viburnum woods, bog garden, water lily pond, conservatory with over 850 orchids, small greenhouses, and woodland walks. This is a unique opportunity for an excellent learning experience for any horticultural background.

TOPICS COVERED:

• Landscape Design

• Hands on practical skills - planting, dead heading, watering, etc.

• Seasonal maintenance

• Roses and their care

• Herbaceous and woody plants and their care

• Lawn care – push mowing, leaf blowing, weed eating, edging, etc.

• Pest and disease management / IPM

• Tropical plants and their care

• Orchid plants and their care

• Greenhouse maintenance

• Preparing and participating in private tours of the estate

• Teamwork vs. Independent work

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Enrolled or have been enrolled for one year in a horticulture program or related field

• Experience in using horticulture tools

• General knowledge of gardening techniques and terminology

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid driver's license

• The ability to pass background and security check

• May be asked to work on weekends

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

COMPENSATION:

• $16.00 an hour

• Uniforms

• Housing if necessary

Internship runs from April/May to August

Monday through Friday and occasionally weekends

Daily schedule approximately 8:00am-4:00pm
