Guest soprano Leah Hollingshead (UTRGV) and SFA staff pianist Maggie Hinchliffe present a recital that explores musical perspectives on cowboy culture in Texas and the broader American West.
The program spans traditional classical repertoire and more informal selections, blending art song with audience participation. Featured works include music by Aaron Copland and Libby Larsen, the world premiere of Songs from the End of the Frontier by Austin-based composer Alex Molina Shawver, and new arrangements of Mexican ranchera music curated by Teresita Lozano.
Audience participation is part of the experience. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to learn how to take part in the harmonica choir.
