The SFA Trombone Choir, under the direction of Dr. Deb Scott, will present its annual spring concert featuring original works and arrangements by SFA alumni spanning the past three decades.

Highlights include “Ludus Tonalis” by James Meador, former bass trombonist with the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra, and “The Star-Spangled Banner” arranged by Ian Deterling, whose recent commissions include the London Symphony and Taiwan’s National Symphony. Works by Nathaniel Gardner and Garry Wickliffe will also be performed.

The concert includes a special in memoriam performance of “Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre, arranged by the late Noah Carter. Though not an SFA alum, Carter was a devoted supporter of the School of Music.

Also featured is the SFA Trombone Octet performing “Osteoblast” by Derek Bourgeois — one of the most demanding works for trombone ensemble.

This concert marks Dr. Deb Scott’s 25th year as professor of trombone at SFA.
