Chopin’s Salon Conversation is a collaborative lecture-recital that recreates the atmosphere of the Parisian salons of the 1830s and 1840s, where Frédéric Chopin’s works were often first heard and discussed. Blending performance with historical and musical commentary, the program explores Chopin’s position as a Polish émigré in Paris and the ways his music reflects both personal expression and cultural identity.

The program features soprano Misook Yun, pianist Cicilia Yudha, and musicologist Ewelina Boczkowska, and includes mazurkas, nocturnes, songs, and the Polonaise-Fantaisie. Together, these selections offer insight into both the intimate and public sides of Chopin’s music within its historical, social, and musical context.
