The Stephen F. Austin State University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Brad Meyer, presents its Spring 2025 concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in Cole Concert Hall, Wright Music Building.

This high-energy performance features a diverse lineup of contemporary percussion works, including:

Overkill by Andy Harnsberger – a rock-inspired showstopper

Denkyem by Joe Moore – rooted in West African rhythmic tradition

Digital Dances by Marco Schirripa – influenced by video game and EDM culture

¡Higuita! by Stephen Whibley – a quirky, fast-paced tribute to the Colombian soccer icon

Dancers to a Discordant System – an arrangement of a complex Meshuggah composition

The evening also includes the world premiere of Negative Space, composed by Carson Chlup for the SFA Percussion Ensemble. This innovative work explores musical space and motion through polyrhythms, modal shifts, and immersive staging.

Tickets: $8 adults; $6 senior; $3 student/youth
