The Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series features Monika Maeckle on January 9, 2025. Maeckle is the founder of the Texas Butterfly Ranch and the Monarch Butterfly and Pollinator Festival. She is a longtime journalist and nature writer based in San Antonio. Maeckle has worked for years to raise awareness of monarch butterflies, pollinators, and native plants. She is the author of The Monarch Butterfly Migration: Its Rise and Fall. The book will be available for purchase at the lecture and Maeckle will be available to sign it.
The SFA Gardens Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series is held the second Thursday of each month in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. Presentations begin at 7 p.m. and are followed by a plant raffle. Attendance is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center or next door at Raguet Elementary School.
