Symphonic Mosaic
Symphonic Mosaic features an innovative program that brings new ideas and influences into the concert band tradition. The University Band, led by graduate conductors, performs a diverse set of works, including pieces that incorporate musical quotations, personal tributes, electroacoustic elements, and global influences.
The Symphonic Band opens the second half with the premiere of The Golden Thread by SFA student composer Preston Posey, followed by selections inspired by Colombian dance rhythms and a moving transcription of O Magnum Mysterium. The concert concludes with David Maslanka’s Illumination, an immersive work enhanced by unique stagecraft.
This program highlights creativity, collaboration, and the evolving possibilities of the wind band medium.
