Alternative Fruits for the Home Orchard

Dr. Tim Hartmann

Join SFA Gardens for the Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series featuring Dr. Tim Hartmann with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, who will present a program on "Alternative Fruits for the Home Orchard - Low Input, Low Maintenance and Low Spray." Originally from Blanco, Texas, Hartmann holds a bachelor's degree in horticulture and a master's degree in plant breeding from Texas A&M University. He earned his Ph.D. in horticulture from Texas A&M in 2020.

Hartmann has worked for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in College Station since 2014. As an extension specialist and assistant professor, he works with fruit production, plant propagation and general horticulture. His research has recently focused on alternative fruit crops such as kiwifruit, pineapple guava, Asian persimmon, and apricot.

The lecture is free to attend. A plant raffle will follow the program. Parking is available at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center or at Raguet Elementary next door.
