Orchestra photo

The SFA Symphony Orchestra opens its season with a vibrant celebration of music from Central and South America. The program showcases works by José Pablo Moncayo, Camargo Guarnieri, Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Chávez, Francisco Mignone, and Silvestre Revueltas—composers whose bold voices bring the rhythms, colors, and spirit of Latin America to the stage.

Highlights include Piazzolla’s Grand Tango featuring SFA’s own Dr. Evgeni Raychev on cello, as well as Moncayo’s rousing Huapango and Chávez’s dynamic Sinfonía India. Audiences will also experience the rich soundscapes of Guarnieri’s Encantamento, Mignone’s Congada, and Revueltas’s Sensemayá.

This concert offers a rare opportunity to hear works seldom performed in the U.S., making for an evening of discovery, energy, and cultural celebration.
