As a university cost-cutting measure, one of many across campus due to the pandemic budget crisis affecting universities nationwide, it is not possible for Stephen F. Austin State University to fund the teaching contract of Jack Heifner, who has been SFA’s playwright in residence since 1997. In response, an overwhelming movement has generated a fundraising campaign within the community to help fund his salary beginning January 2021. Mr. Heifner has been moved by this show of support and has agreed to return as a faculty member in the School of Theatre.

This is your opportunity to demonstrate your passion for theatre by making a contribution. Please help us maintain the excellent program that has been valuable to so many students by supporting the importance of Mr. Heifner’s talents to our theatre program and those Lumberjacks who learn from him.
