Lifelong Learning Conference in the Department of Education Studies

The Lifelong Learning Conference is a professional development conference for pre-K through 12th grade teachers in the East Texas area, as well as SFA alumni teachers across the state. Organized by the James I. Perkins College of Education’s Department of Education Studies, the conference provides professional development, networking and an opportunity for classroom teachers to earn continuing education credits.

Hosted on campus at the Janice A. Pattillo Early Childhood Research Center on June 28, the conference is a collaborative platform that encourages educators to share innovative teaching practices and emerging research. Educators are encouraged to create presentations emphasizing this year’s theme of “Inspire! Create! Collaborate!” From this event, experienced teachers and teachers new to the field will be able to immerse themselves in an engaging learning community to share their expertise and best teaching practices.

A reimagining of a similar 2012 conference for elementary education, the Lifelong Learning Conference encompasses all grade levels with an emphasis on successful teaching techniques tailored to diverse learners.

“This conference seeks to inspire and empower educators and communities to embrace lifelong learning as an integral part of their professional journey and thrive in a rapidly changing world,” said Alyssa Landreneaux, conference committee chair and assessment coordinator in the Department of Education Studies.
