Dr. Ken Collier Legislative Internship Program

Dr. Ken Collier’s passion was helping students succeed. He strongly believed in the experience and education students could gain through an internship with the state Legislature. Collier oversaw the legislative internship program at SFA. Each legislative session, students were placed in legislative and executive offices in Austin based on the student’s interest. While in those offices, students gained valuable experience, from marking up legislation to working on the state budget. Many internship program alumni now enjoy careers as attorneys or work in governmental offices throughout the state.

Collier would have fought to restore the funding for legislative interns. There is no better way to honor him than to endow a permanent legislative internship program.
