Feb. 3, 2022 - 3:53 p.m.

Stephen F. Austin State University will be closed Friday, Feb. 4, due to potential weather conditions, particularly how they might affect ice on roadways and related travel. The SFA Charter School and the Early Childhood Laboratory also will close tomorrow.

University officials made the decision in consultation with other community leaders, taking into account that some school districts are canceling or delaying classes. We recognize how this can affect employees who have children.

Essential employees will still need to report to campus, as directed by their supervisors. We thank them for the work they do to keep the campus safe and operating smoothly, despite rain, sleet or snow.

Academics

All classes, whether in person or online, are canceled Friday. Faculty members will inform their students regarding any postponed exams or assignment due dates scheduled for tomorrow.

Campus Services

The East College Dining Hall will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, but the Baker Pattillo Student Center will be closed. Follow Lumberjack Eats on social media for any updates. The Student Recreation Center will close tonight at 8 p.m. and open tomorrow from noon to 8 p.m. As of now, there are no changes to scheduled athletic events.

If any alerts are issued, they will be posted on the University Police Department’s Jack Alert website.

Please limit your travel, stay safe and stay warm, Jacks!

Sincerely,

Scott Gordon
President
