March 7, 2025 - 8:55 a.m.

Stephen F. Austin State University Division of Academic Affairs

Dear faculty and staff,

I am writing to inform you of an upcoming leadership transition within the Nelson Rusche College of Business. Effective Monday, March 10, Dr. Jason Reese will assume the role of acting dean following the departure of Dr. Tim Bisping, who has accepted the position of dean of the College of Business at the University of Central Arkansas.

Dr. Reese has been an integral part of our university community, serving as associate dean for faculty and administration from 2022-24 and associate professor of marketing currently. His leadership roles at SFA have included chairing the Faculty Senate, serving as faculty athletics representative, and advising various student organizations.

Dr. Reese was instrumental in the development of the college’s Bachelor of Business Administration in sports business program in 2015 as well as the creation of the Sports Business Society student organization in 2017. His dedication to academic excellence and student success has been recognized through such awards as the SFASU Foundation Teaching Award and the Distinguished Faculty Member Award, among others.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bisping for his leadership and contributions to the Rusche College of Business, having served as dean and professor since 2015. His efforts have significantly advanced our mission of academic excellence, and we wish him continued success in his new role at UCA.

Please join me in supporting Dr. Reese as he steps into this leadership position and in congratulating Dr. Bisping on his new appointment.

Sincerely,

Judy A. Abbott, PhD

Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
