Update regarding UPD investigation

Dear Lumberjacks,
The investigation into a Sept. 14 residence-hall incident involving a false police report has been submitted to the Nacogdoches District Attorney, who will determine if criminal charges will be filed against the students involved. Also, a student judicial investigation will conclude next week and may result in other actions, including suspension or expulsion from the university.
Body camera video recorded during the incident shows our UPD officers responded to the call for assistance professionally and with care and compassion for all involved. As required by law, we are seeking approval from the victim to release this video.
This incident has strengthened our resolve to ensure the safety of our campus, and our commitment to you and your educational experience is stronger than ever.
