Dr. Raul Prezas, professor in the Department of Human Services and Educational Leadership
Prezas delivered two virtual seminar presentations via Zoom last week to speech-language therapists in the United Kingdom. Both presentations were related to his work on a phonological therapy approach for monolingual English and bilingual English-Spanish speakers who have highly unintelligible speech.
In addition, Prezas presented data related to speakers of other languages, which include Vietnamese, Urdu, Japanese, Bengali and Tagalog. Prezas will be presenting his research in June to the Royal College of Speech-Language Therapists in the UK.

SFA welcomes Chartwells Higher Education as new food-service provider
Chartwells Higher Education, a food-service company providing dining options to 300 higher education institutions around the country, will begin preparing and serving meals to SFA Lumberjacks July 1, replacing Aramark.

“Cooked-from-scratch foods, menus developed by season, supporting farmers by sourcing locally, and offering vegan, vegetarian and allergen-friendly options are all trademarks of Chartwells,” said Carrie Charley, SFA director of auxiliary services. “The new dining program will be rebranded as Lumberjack Eats, representing a fresh, student-centric approach to campus dining. Lumberjacks can look forward to a refreshed dining experience with new dining stations in the Baker Pattillo Student Center and East College Dining Hall.”
Questions regarding SFA’s transition to Chartwells can be emailed to LumberjackEats@sfasu.edu or to Charley at carrie.charley@sfasu.edu.

It sounds like a scene from a nightmare — billions of hibernating bugs emerging from the earth to besiege entire cities.
But really it's just Brood X, or the Great Eastern Brood — a swarm of cicadas that spent 17 years buried underground in a nymph state. This swarm recently emerged in parts of the U.S., and people are taking to the internet to document just how overwhelming (and fascinating) the sheer number of cicadas has been to witness.
