ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Dr. Lauren Burrow, associate professor of education studies
Burrow NSTA

Burrow and her son, fourth-grader Ethan, co-presented “Young Student Presents Novel Engineering: A STREAM Activity of UpCycled Imagination” at the National Science Teaching Association conference in Houston. The hands-on workshop of “novel engineering” gave a dozen teachers the opportunity to try out a science, technology, reading/writing, engineering, art and math activity for solving problems in children’s books through the collaborative, imaginative engineering of inventions from upcycled items.

LEADING LUMBERJACKS
Jaime Arriaga and Jeremy Baxter, Physical Plant, and Sheldon Scroggins and Tom Turner, Information Technology Services

Arriaga, special services foreperson, and Baxter, special services technician, made two office moves for Human Resources March 30. They worked efficiently to move all the furniture, handled ad hoc requests as the move was in progress and cleaned up after.

Scroggins, tech support specialist, set up the computers, verifying that everything was working before he left. When he was back in the office the next day on a separate request, he took the time to swap out the monitors in one office after it was determined different ones were needed.

Before the two office moves, Turner, telecommunications support specialist, moved multiple phone lines between offices, including tracing lines not in use and swapping phones. He verified that everything was working before he left. Turner has been very helpful over the last month tracing and moving phone lines and fax lines as the department rearranged its work space.

"With multiple moves happening across campus right now, we recognize that these four individuals are very busy. HR appreciates their help and professionalism!" said Lisa Balty, senior HR representative.
