Burrow was selected to serve on the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement Conference planning committee for 2023.

IARSLCE is the only international organization whose expressed primary purpose is to cultivate, encourage and present research across all engagement forms and educational levels. The association promotes high quality trans-disciplinary research across a wide range of approaches and forms and builds the capacity of scholars, practitioners and community partners to engage in such research.

The fall conference is planned for Oct. 25-27 at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Proposals are being accepted until May 26 on the conference's website.

Those interested in learning more about the conference or proposals, contact Burrow at burrowle@sfasu.edu.

He was interviewed by ASBMB Today about what to expect for this summer’s education meeting, which offers new pedagogical research, career guidance and a strong sense of community.

Dr. Pietro Sasso, assistant professor of educational leadership

Sasso and two colleagues recently published “A Descriptive Quantitative Exploration of College Students of Promise During the COVID-19 Pandemic” in the Journal of Underrepresented and Minority Progress.

Entomology seminar celebrates 50th anniversary
entemology

The East Texas Forest Entomology Seminar celebrated 50 years of extending knowledge and resources to forest entomologists, professors and graduate students at its annual meeting in April.

In 1973 thanks to support from the Texas Forest Service and SFA, the East Texas Forest Entomology Seminar was created to increase collaborative efforts in the hopes of decreasing prevalent forest pest issues. Over the years, approximately 1,200 presentations have been delivered as a means to address forest health-related topics.

Following a three-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students and professionals met again for technical presentations at the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture. Over the course of the event, attendees were given an opportunity to interact and reflect on the seminar's impact over the last five decades.
