UPD offers permits to drive university vehicles
UPD

SFA requires employees, including student employees, to maintain driving permits if they are driving any university vehicles for university business.

SFA’s University Police Department offers driving permits for anyone who needs to drive any university vehicles (trucks, vans, golf carts, etc.) for university business. UPD also offers free defensive driving and van certification courses for those who wish to acquire a driving permit.

Lifelong Learning Conference registration opens

Registration for the Lifelong Learning Conference opens today.

The conference will be a collaborative platform for local educators and SFA alumni to immerse themselves in an engaging learning community that shares innovative teaching practices and emerging research.

Human sciences to host annual Kentucky Derby fundraiser
derby dinner

The sixth annual Kentucky Derby dinner and auction is set for 6 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the Fredonia Hotel.

The event will feature a four-course dining experience inspired by traditional Kentucky Derby dishes. A cocktail reception with a cash bar will take place at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Silent and live auctions will take place throughout the evening.

Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are $60 per person, $100 for couples and $400 for a table of eight.

Global Gateway to Malaysia, Eid celebration scheduled

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to the Office of International Programs’ global gateway presentation on Malaysia at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in Steen Library, Room 103. The event will include a presentation led by an SFA international student from Malaysia who will introduce attendees to her country, traditions and lifestyle.

An Eid Celebration to mark the end of Ramadan will follow the presentation. For more information, contact Enrique Venegas at enrique.venegas@sfasu.edu or ext. 6604.

After the largest bird in North America, the California condor, went extinct in the wild in 1987, conservation groups have worked to restore their populations.

In March, their efforts have soared to new heights as the 250th condor chick, Emaay, hatched at the San Diego Zoo.
