OWLE announces recipients of the Advocate Award
OWLE Award Recipients

The Organization for Women’s Leadership and Equity announced the recipients of the OWLE Advocate Award, which recognizes faculty and staff who embody OWLE’s mission to serve as advocates for women staff, faculty and students.

The 2023-24 Faculty Advocate Award was presented to Dr. Victoria Wagner-Greene, assistant professor of kinesiology and health science. Wagner-Greene has been a member of OWLE since its inception and has organized and maintained the OWLE Parent Pantry, distributing baby-related items to students in need, keeping inventory lists, monitoring expiration dates and taking soon-to-expire food to the Buckley Food Pantry to be used by Nacogdoches residents in need.

The two recipients of the 2023-24 Staff Advocate Award were Amy Smith, coordinator of Student Outreach and Support, and George Montgomery, assistant dean of students. Smith and Montgomery collaborated with OWLE to merge the OWLE Parent Pantry with the Lumberjack Food Pantry to create the Lumberjack Pantry in the Health and Wellness Hub. In doing so, they shared an understanding of the unique challenges faced by student-parents.
