ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Dr. Greg Miller, professor of statistics
Miller

Miller was recently promoted by the College Board to serve as a table leader for the 2024 Advanced Placement Statistics Exam reading.

Each year, only a few dozen university-level statistics faculty are awarded this responsibility nationwide. Miller led a virtual table of AP graders through scoring more than 10,000 exam questions related to discrete probability distributions. Miller earned the promotion in his fifth year of working with the AP program, an honor often reserved for those with eight to ten years of service on a particular exam.

THIS AND THAT
Anechoic Chamber

If you would guess the most silent place on earth is in Antarctica or the Sahara Desert, you'd be wrong. It's actually in Minnesota.

At Orfield Laboratory, visitors can experience the Anechoic Chamber, a room so well-designed to absorb sound that even the blink of an eye sounds loud. It's so silent that visitors often hear their own bodies, like their blood flowing, and sometimes find the quiet overwhelming.

"Hear" more about the room by watching a video on goodnewsnetwork.org.
