Lt. Amanda Kennedy, University Police Department
Kennedy

SFA's University Police Department appointed Kennedy interim assistant chief of police.

Kennedy, who joined UPD in 2005, serves as lieutenant over the patrol and criminal investigation departments. Additionally, she serves as the administrative lieutenant for Parking Services and to the Chief of Police, as well as the university’s Clery coordinator.

In her interim role, Kennedy also will lead the patrol and communication departments and will serve as the Early Childhood Research Center liaison. The search process for assistant chief will be advertised nationally later this year.

Rusche College of Business celebrates extension of prestigious accreditation

SFA’s Rusche College of Business has successfully achieved the extension of its accreditation by AACSB International — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Globally, only 6% of business colleges have achieved accreditation by AACSB, which places Rusche College of Business in an elite category of business colleges worldwide.

PAAC meeting scheduled for tomorrow

Faculty members and professional advisors are invited to the Professional Academic Advising Council meeting from 2 to 3 p.m. tomorrow in the Wyatt Room of Steen Library or on Zoom.

Staff Council to meet July 15

SFA's Staff Council will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, in McGee Business Building, Room 133, and via Zoom.

Craig Turnage and Amber Lindsay, executive director and assistant to the executive director in the Office of Alumni Relations, will provide information about the office. Choya Coleman, Information Technology Services project and accessibility coordinator, will discuss the Project Management Office and mySFA.

Employee Wellness teams with HOPE Food Pantry

Employee Wellness is partnering with Nacogdoches HOPE Food Pantry to support those in need.

As part of this initiative, Employee Wellness is asking faculty and staff to bring non-perishable food items to the Employee Wellness and Benefits Vendor Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.

Items such as canned goods, rice, cereals, peanut butter and other shelf-stable products will make a significant difference in the lives of many in our community.

Lecture series to feature gardens and gardeners making a difference

SFA Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Dr. Tina Marie (Waliczek) Cade, professor of horticulture in the Department of Agriculture at Texas State University, will present “Plants and People — Gardens and Gardeners Making a Difference.”
