Their program of Latin music and tangos featured a newly commissioned world premiere by Argentinian composer, Noelia Escalzo. Scott also served as an adjudicator for the international solo trombone competition.

Dr. Brook Poston, professor of history

Poston’s new book, “The Founders' Curse: James Monroe’s Struggle Against Political Parties,” published by Johns Hopkins University Press, looks at how Monroe’s relationships impacted the evolution of political parties in the early American republic. This is Poston’s second book on Monroe.

The book is available through the publisher’s website and Amazon.

Dr. Stephen Taaffe, professor of history
book

Taaffe’s ninth book on America’s military history, “U.S. Army Divisions of the Pacific War,” offers a new understanding of the 20 U.S. Army divisions that fought in the Pacific theater during World War II.

Utilizing a narrative approach, Taaffe uncovers this understudied aspect of the war by bringing to life each division’s history, characteristics and battles during the war, which focuses new attention on the 1.77 million U.S. Army troops who served in the Pacific and Asian theaters. Taaffe follows the divisions as they learned to adapt to the new theater of war, survive in challenging terrain and rise to the occasion.

The book is available through Amazon.

Utilizing his over 20 years of experience in the field, Fugen developed a low-tech, minimal base-jumping rig, without the help of inflatable components, that relied only on the rigidity of his tensed body to maintain its form.
