Because faculty and staff work closely with students, Counseling Services wants to ensure the campus community is familiar with TimelyCare, the virtual health and well-being app available 24/7 to enrolled SFA students at no cost.
TimelyCare services include talk-now/on-demand support, appointment-based counseling, advanced psychiatric care, health coaching, peer communities and more.
Students may register at timelycare.com/sfasu anytime with their SFA student email address. For additional information about student resources, faculty and staff may visit the Health and Wellness Hub website or call ext. 4482.

Staff Council to meet Nov. 12
Staff Council will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in McGee Business Building, Room 133.
Jana Redfield, STEM Education and Research Center co-director, will provide information about High School STEM Day with a multidisciplinary approach, and Michael McBroom, athletics director, will present an update on athletics.
The meeting will be livestreamed via Zoom, and the meeting agenda is available on the meeting information webpage.

First-Gen Celebration scheduled for today
The Student Success Center is hosting the First-Gen Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. today in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Twilight Ballroom. It will feature a resource fair, free headshots, guest speakers, cake and T-shirts for the first 100 attendees.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and inform first-generation students of the come-and-go event. For more information about resources for first-generation students, visit the first-gen resources website.

Nov. 13 - Veterans stories with guest author signing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Bookstore
Nov. 14 - Tailgate games and competition with ROTC from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Sesquicentennial Plaza by Surfin' Steve

Steen Library, CTL to hold open educational resources grant lab
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has announced its request for applications for two categories of grants for open educational resources. Applications are due Dec. 2.
To support those interested in applying, Steen Library and Center for Teaching and Learning staff members will host a drop-in OER grant lab from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 21 in Steen Library, Room 219, or online.

SFA dance faculty members to hold yoga class Nov. 9
Join SFA dance faculty members at their yoga class from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Griffith Fine Arts Ballet Studio, Room 325, as part of their Second Saturdays community fitness class series. You can borrow one of their mats or bring your own.

Annual 12 X 12 fundraiser planned for Nov. 9
The annual 12 X 12 Scholarship Fundraiser hosted by the Friends of the Visual Arts at SFA is slated from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.
A silent auction for all 12-by-12-inch pieces continues through the event Nov. 9, when auction winners will be revealed. Each item will have a starting bid of $250. At 3 p.m. Nov. 9, any unsold pieces will be available for bidding starting at $100, and those remaining without bids will be raffled off.
Nacogdoches found-object artist Wally Knight will be the fundraiser’s featured artist. His 12 X 12 piece, fittingly titled “Now Showing at the Cole,” will be showcased.

Friday Night Film Series to screen 'Killers of the Flower Moon' tomorrow
The School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of the Oscar-nominated motion picture “Killers of the Flower Moon” at 7 p.m. tomorrow at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House. Presented in partnership with the Nacogdoches Public Library and Humanities Texas as part of the Big Read event, the screening is open to the public.
This 2023 drama is based on true events, focusing on the murders of Osage members and relations in the Osage Nation after oil was discovered on tribal land in the 1920s.
