Distinguished donors celebrated at 34th annual SFA Gala

SFA recognized several prominent donors who have supported the institution during the 34th annual SFA Gala.

The 2025 honorees, inducted into two of the university’s three tiers of giving, are Teresa Jill Adams of Knott, L.D. and Johnnie McWilliams of Timpson, Betty Oglesbee of San Augustine, and the Charles and Lois Marie Bright Foundation of Nacogdoches.

Faculty Senate to meet Feb. 5

The SFA Faculty Senate will hold a meeting at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 5 in McGee Business Building, Room 133, or Zoom. To receive the Zoom link, contact Dr. Sarah Straub, Faculty Senate secretary, at straubsm@sfasu.edu.

Members of the SFA community are welcome to attend the public portion of the session either in person or via Zoom. However, per senate rules, only faculty senators are permitted to participate in the discussions during the meeting. Therefore, questions should be forwarded in advance to your faculty senator for potential consideration.

Regional seminar for East Texas health care professionals, students

SFA's dietetics and nutritional sciences program and the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is hosting an event for health care professionals and students from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 7, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Regents' Suites A and B.

Attendees can explore the latest evidence-based strategies in treating thyroid problems, diagnosis and treatment of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth and gastrointestinal issues; and learn the evolving role of dietitians in various health care settings to improve patient outcomes.

The cost includes lunch, vendors and a poster session, along with three educational presentations, approved for three continuing education units for registered dietitians and dietetic technicians, registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Students can register with a reduced rate. Register by Thursday, Jan. 30, on Eventbrite.

Get ready for a night of laughs as renowned comedian Greg Warren takes the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in Turner Auditorium.

Known for his hilarious appearances on Comedy Central and "The Late Late Show," Warren is also a key part of the Nateland podcast network, created by comedian Nate Bargatze. His sharp wit and relatable humor will keep you laughing all night. Plus, enjoy an opening set by Tim Convy.
