Student Engagement to host blood drive

In an effort to give back to the East Texas community, Student Engagement will host the annual Bleed Purple Blood Drive from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 11 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Room 2.106. Faculty and staff who participate will earn free Starbucks and a half-zip pullover provided by Gulf Coast Blood Center.

Rusche College of Business, ACE to host speaking event
Ginn

The Rusche College of Business and Arnold Center for Entrepreneurship will host a speaking event featuring Dr. Vance Ginn, legislative entrepreneur and founder of Ginn Economic Consulting, from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in McGee Business Building, Room 133.

During this interview, Ginn will explore how legislative decisions impact business innovation and startups. This event is open to the public and an opportunity to connect, learn and engage with ideas shaping our future.

Applications open for SFA Charter School

Applications for the SFA Charter School 2025-26 school year are now open in the SFA Charter School office, located at 2428 Raguet St., and on the school’s website. The lottery enrollment application window is open until 5:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Deadline extended for Gateways, Not Gatekeepers

The submission deadline for the Gateways, Not Gatekeepers event has been extended to Saturday, Feb.1.

This event provides a space for SFA faculty and staff to share institutional knowledge and practical strategies with colleagues. Topics might include navigating the application process for student travel funds, tips for moving into leadership positions and other insights that support professional growth and success at SFA.

Dr. Roslyn Fraser, associate professor of sociology, and Dr. Chrissy Cross, professor of education studies
Fraser.Cross

Fraser and Cross co-presented a workshop in Mauritius on research ethics and internal review boards. The workshop was part of Fraser's ongoing series of research workshops as part of her work as Fulbright Scholar. More than 90 individuals from several Mauritian universities attended the online workshop.

The workshop covered several foundational areas of research ethics, including the principles of respect, beneficence and justice in research and common practices like informed consent, risk-benefit analysis and harm reduction in research. The workshop also discussed the history of research ethics violations in the U.S. and globally to provide context for why we have strict review processes today.

Comedian Warren to perform tonight

The Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts presents nationally acclaimed comedian Greg Warren as part of its University Series at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Turner Auditorium.

Warren, celebrated for his sharp wit and relatable storytelling, has been featured on Comedy Central and “The Late Late Show.” A co-host on the popular Nateland Podcast network, his blend of humor and charm promises a night of unforgettable entertainment.
