Investiture town hall slated for today

Faculty and staff are invited to an investiture town hall meeting at 3:30 p.m. today in McGee Business Building, Room 133, or via Zoom (meeting ID 966 6403 2903 and passcode 040016).

The investiture of SFA’s 11th president, Dr. Neal Weaver, at 10 a.m. May 1 is the university’s first investiture ceremony in over 30 years. At this town hall, event organizers will share information about the investiture and answer your questions.

CCPD to host Career Champions workshops

The Center for Career and Professional Development will host a new Career Champions program to equip faculty and staff with the CCPD knowledge to enhance students' professional development so that they’re successful through graduation and beyond.

To sign up for the following workshops, complete this form. CCPD recommends starting with the “Introduction to Career Champions" workshop.

OER Advancement Awards call for proposals now open

The Center for Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with the Steen Library, has opened the call for proposals for the Open Educational Resource Advancement Awards.

These awards support faculty members in positively impacting students by advancing the use of OERs at SFA. Faculty members may choose to significantly redesign a course to use an OER in place of the current textbook, or they may choose to modify or expand an existing OER for use in an SFA course.

Deadline tomorrow: Submit proposal to the Lifelong Learning Conference

Attention, educators! Do you have innovative teaching strategies, research or insights to share? We're inviting proposals for the Department of Education Studies’ second annual Lifelong Learning Conference, designed by educators for educators. This is a great opportunity to connect, collaborate and inspire.

This call for proposals is open to anyone who has insights relevant to K-12 teachers.

Submit your proposal by tomorrow through the conference's webpage. The Lifelong Learning Conference will be June 27 at the Janice A. Pattillo Early Childhood Research Center.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Ajero presented “Artificial Intelligence in Real Music Learning Situations: Exploring AI's Impact on Piano Pedagogy and Music Education” at the national conference of the Music Teachers National Association in Minneapolis.

Ajero demonstrated AI-enhanced platforms and tools that provide immediate detailed feedback and help create adaptive musical experiences. He also discussed how teachers can use AI to help with studio management, marketing and lesson planning.
