Counseling Services now offering Caring Jacks suicide prevention training

Counseling Services in SFA’s Health and Wellness Hub is now offering Caring Jacks crisis response and suicide prevention training to faculty, staff and students. The program is designed to ensure a community of care and connection at SFA where open conversations about suicide are met with compassion and support.

Two in-person trainings are available:

Introductory Training (50 minutes)

Learn how to recognize signs and symptoms of suicide, understand varying levels of crisis, strengthen supportive communication skills and gain awareness of mental health resources.

Comprehensive Training (90 minutes)

Get in-depth instruction on motivational interviewing techniques, empathetic communication and mental health first-aid principles. A certificate of completion recognizing preparedness to intervene and support others in crisis is awarded at the end of this training.

Request a training session by completing this form. For more information, visit the Lumberjack Wellness Network.
