School of Nursing to administer free flu shots

Free flu shots are available to the public from noon to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 11 during the flu vaccine drive-thru event at the DeWitt School of Nursing Complex.

Sponsored by the School of Nursing and East Texas Community Health Services, the event offers standard influenza vaccines to anyone ages 4 and older. Level 4 nursing students will administer the vaccines.

Stone Fort Museum to host Old Stone Harvest Fest

The Stone Fort Museum will host the Old Stone Harvest Fest from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25 at the museum. The family-friendly event will feature traditional cooking demonstrations, heritage crafts and live music.

OIP to host presentation on South Africa

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to the Office of International Programs’ global gateway presentation on South Africa at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Steen Library, Room 103. The event will include a presentation led by an SFA international student from South Africa who will introduce attendees to their country, traditions and lifestyle.

Faculty discussion slated for today

Faculty members are invited to semimonthly meetings to discuss topics impacting faculty welfare, academic affairs and policy.

The Ale in Favor? Faculty Discussion Group is an open discussion space for faculty to talk about topics impacting them. Meetings will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. at Fredonia Brewery.

Dates for the fall are today, Oct. 8, Oct. 22 and Nov. 12.

Those who cannot make it in person can join on Google Meet.

Employee Wellness to host flu shot clinic

Employee Wellness will host a flu shot clinic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Regents' Suite B.

If you are a UT Select or UT Care insurance member, your flu shot will be billed to your insurance at no out-of-pocket cost to you. Bring a photocopy of your insurance card, driver's license and consent form with you to the clinic. Register for your flu shot and print your consent form before arrival.

Burrow presented “Strategies for Promoting Pre-Service Teachers’ Comfortability with Museum-Based Learning Activities as a way to Increase Museum Accessibility and Attendance for Young Children and Their Families​” at the 18th International Conference on the Inclusive Museum at the University of San Jorge, Zaragoza.

This presentation was part of research initiated during Burrow's endowed Margaret Hoover Perkins Research Professorship. She also was a delegate at the Museum Ideas Conference at the Wellcome Collection hosted by Art Fund.
