SFA Faculty Forum meeting set for today

The next SFA Faculty Forum meeting will be held today as a town hall to discuss the Faculty Salary Equity Committee. The forum will meet at 2:30 p.m. in McGee Business Building, Room 133, and via Zoom. The remaining meeting dates for this semester are April 8, April 22 and May 6.

OIP to host presentation on the Netherlands

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to the Office of International Programs’ global gateway presentation on the Netherlands at 3 p.m. today in Steen Library, Room 103. The event will include a presentation led by an SFA international student from the Netherlands who will introduce attendees to their country, traditions and lifestyle.

Student Art Show Fundraiser set for Friday

Faculty and staff are invited to the Student Art Show Fundraiser, a creative community event benefiting students participating in a study abroad experience at 3daysofdesign, an international festival celebrating contemporary furniture, lighting and interior design in Copenhagen, Denmark. The fundraiser will feature a student and faculty art auction, a local artist and artisan market and light hors d’oeuvres. The fundraiser will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 27, at the Culinary Café.

OIP to host Eid celebration

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to a special Eid celebration hosted by the Office of International Programs from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 27, in Steen Library, Room 103.

Learn how students from around the world celebrate Eid and gain insight into diverse traditions, cultures and lifestyles. This session will highlight global perspectives on Eid and the ways it is celebrated across different countries.

Registration Rally set for April 1

The Registration Rally is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Steen Library, Lumberjack Learning Lab 1 on the first floor.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to inform students about this rally, which is a one-stop event for students to get everything in place for summer and fall 2026 registration. Whether students need help clearing holds or registering for classes, campus experts will be available to assist.

The event will have representatives from:

• Office of the Registrar

• Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships

• Student Business Services

• Cole Student Success Center

• Academic advisors

Rick Buckland from Corebridge Financial Retirement Services will be on campus April 7, May 6 and June 3 to assist with questions like the following:

• How do Teachers Retirement System retirement benefits work?

• How do I enroll to save more for retirement?

• Should I increase my contributions?

• What is a 403(b) and why do I need one?

• How do I calculate my contributions to meet my retirement income goals?

• How do I learn more about TRS and why should I save more for retirement?

Spring plant fair set for April 11

SFA’s horticulture program and the SFA Horticulture Club will host the annual student-run Spring Plant Fair from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 11 at the SFA Plantery, located at 1924 Wilson Drive behind the Agriculture Building.

Plants available for purchase include a variety of native perennials, edibles, annuals, houseplants and succulents. Pancakes will be offered for free with a donation encouraged.

New VR and Recording Studio unveiled

The SFA Makerspace unveiled the VR and Recording Studio, bringing to campus a dynamic space for immersive virtual reality experiences and audio and video production tools. The new space empowers faculty, staff and students to create, explore and innovate like never before. From exploring virtual worlds to creating polished multimedia projects, the Makerspace is transforming learning through technology. With integrated VR and recording tools, it sparks creativity, boosts engagement and builds real-world skills.

The studio is open during the following hours, or by appointment:

12 to 4 p.m. Mondays

2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays

12 to 4 p.m. Fridays

Jeong was recently honored with the H. Prentice Baptiste Outstanding Teaching Award for Postsecondary Education at the Texas Chapter of the National Association for Multicultural Education Conference. This award recognizes a Texas postsecondary educator who demonstrates a deep commitment to multicultural education and culturally responsive teaching practices and highlights Jeong’s strong commitment to education for all students and dedication to improving learning in higher education.
